Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 July 2026
Spotter is built to keep your data yours. It runs on iPhone, Apple Watch and Android. The platforms differ in a few places — sync above all — and this policy says so wherever they do.
On-device storage
Your workouts, sessions, and history are stored locally on your device. Spotter has no account system, no sign-in, and no server of its own, and does not transmit your data to me or any third party.
No tracking, no ads, no analytics
On both platforms, Spotter does not track you across apps or websites and contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.
Sync and backup
On iPhone and Apple Watch, your workouts and history sync through your own private iCloud account under Apple’s privacy terms. The data lives in your iCloud, not on my servers, and I never see it.
On Android, there is no sync. Your data stays on the device you logged it on. Android’s own app backup may include Spotter’s data in whatever device backup you have configured with Google; that backup is governed by Google’s privacy policy rather than this one, and you can turn it off in your device’s backup settings. To move your history between devices, use Export all data in Settings, which writes a JSON file wherever you choose to save it.
Health data
On iPhone, with your permission, Spotter writes completed workouts to Apple Health and can read body metrics such as weight and height to personalize features.
On Android, with your permission, Spotter writes completed workouts and their estimated energy to Health Connect, writes the weigh-ins you log, and reads your body-weight history so the in-app trend reflects entries made elsewhere. Health Connect is an on-device store managed by Android, and you can revoke Spotter’s access at any time in your system settings.
On both platforms this data is processed on your device and is never sent to me or anyone else.
Apple Intelligence
On supported iPhones, workout generation and adaptation run on-device using Apple’s Foundation Models. Your data is not sent to a server. There is no equivalent feature in the Android app.
Permissions
Spotter asks for as little as it can. Notifications carry the rest-timer countdown and the “rest over” alert. Vibration provides haptic feedback while logging. On Android, an optional alarms & reminders permission lets the rest alert fire on time if Spotter has been closed mid-set; declining it only makes that alert less precise, and the countdown itself is unaffected. Health access is requested only if you choose to connect it.
Purchases
In-app purchases are handled by Apple on iPhone and by Google Play on Android. The app is told only whether a purchase is active — no payment details, name or email ever reach Spotter or me.
